Dental Veneers Lakewood
What Are Dental Veneers?
For those of you unfamiliar with what veneers are, veneers are a thin piece of porcelain that has been specifically shaped for your tooth or teeth. They can help to create a more natural look and add more structural integrity to the tooth. In essence, dental veneers are thin layers that cover your teeth. Veneers help your teeth look whiter and your smile more complete when your teeth are stained, chipped, or damaged in any way. Fortunately, dental veneers are not only cosmetically appealing but they also provide some level of protection and durability compared to your natural teeth. It is important to note, though, that dental veneers procedure is not reversible and lasts between 10–20 years before they need to be replaced.
There Are Two Types of Veneers
Porcelain is the most common material used in dental veneers. They often require two appointments to properly apply. The first appointment is for preparing the tooth and taking the impression that will be used to create the veneer. Then, it will be engineered in a lab. The second appointment is after the tooth has been created in the lab and is where it is cemented onto your existing tooth.
Composite resin dental veneers are very similar except they only take one appointment to create and apply the veneer since it is created on-site. Your family dentist will measure and create it in-office and apply it directly to the tooth or teeth.
